The second United Nations Conference on Human Settlements (Habitat II) took place from 3 to 14 June 1996 in Istanbul, Turkey. It was popular known as the “City Summit” and brought together 12,000 people with the aim to increase awareness on sustainable urbanization and to commit to the goals of adequate shelter for all and sustainable human settlements.
